Monks

Featuring a buckle fastening,, these are frequently worn by the man who likes to be a little different with his choice of shoe. Orginally worn by monks as early as the fifteenth century, they were subsequently adopted as fashion: buckles and teh high tongue were often embellished. The modern monk style was introduced in the 1920s and there are a number of variations.
