Maintaining your Cordovan Shoes

Always clean shoes before polishing with a damp soft cloth.
If shoes are muddy, let them dry thoroughly and brush the dirt off when dry.

Try to give shoes a day of rest between wearings to allow moisture to dry out.Your shoes will last longer.

If using another brand of waxed polish, avoid red or light colors which tend to give a two-tone look at points where polish gathers.

Use a light coat of polish. Apply it sparingly.

It will shine better and avoid a build up of residue which is difficult to shine and collects dirt and dust.

Use a shoe tree that fits the shoes gently. Avoid pressure in width or length as this could make the fitting change considerably

In the vegetable tanned cordovan leather. It is best to let shoe "cool down" after wearing before inserting shoe trees.

Do not subject cordovan shoes to any drying heat. They must dry naturally when wet or heat may crack the leather.

Do not attempt to clean with any petroleum distillates or cleaning fluids.

This will make shining the shoe through normal methods impossible.

Do not any spray shines or aerosol type waterproofs.

Do not use a neutral color polish as it will leave a white film as you wear your cordovan shoes.

How to care for your Edward Green shoes

Edward Green shoes are made with the finest calfskin we can find.

With proper care, your shoes will only improve with age, felling ever more comfortable and developing this wonderful patina.

Check them regularly to ensure they are not becoming over-worn and always use a shoehorn to avoid damaging the backs. After wear, insert the appropriate trees to ensure the shoes regain their original shape.

Always alternate during the the course of a week. Allow any humidity to evaporate. If really wet, do not use trees immediately bur stuff with absorbent paper and leave to dry on their sides naturally away from any source of heat. Then store on trees.
